HModEx™: The Open Exchange for Health Economics Models
Rethinking How the Healthcare Industry Shares Evidence
Every year, over $1 billion is spent globally on Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), much of it duplicating work that’s already been done. Models built to support drug pricing, access, and reimbursement decisions are often kept private, wasting valuable time and resources.
What We’re Building
HModEx™ (Model Exchange) is a new platform that will change the way the healthcare world collaborates. It will offer:
- Open access to validated health economic models (HE models)
- A royalty system that rewards model creators
- A searchable database with tags, metadata, and ontologies
- Integration with trusted validation tools like CDA-AMC (formally CADTH) and AdViSHE, so users can have confidence in the quality of the models they access
- A “freemium” model — free access to core tools, with premium modules for deeper features
Why It Matters
HModEx™ will support better, faster decision-making for:
- Pharmaceutical manufacturers
- Healthcare researchers
- Government and policy agencies
- Payers and providers
- Academic institutions
By making models open, trusted, and easy to reuse, HModEx™ supports a more transparent and cost-effective healthcare system, particularly in high-cost areas like oncology.
Project Status
HModEx™ is funded by a federal grant and is currently submitting for Phase II, following the successful completion of Phase I. We’re now building a functional prototype in collaboration with developers of the Tufts CEVR Open-Source Model Clearinghouse and an international panel of expert advisors.
